Does your classroom have a pet?

Yep. Your DC probably has allergies to it. Mention it to the principal. They aren’t using the guinea pig for learning anyway.

Is she crying bc Mom and Dad are threatening to get rid of the class pet?

LOL, you don't even know what the pet is???

No kid should have to be doped up on Zyrtec every day. Do you know tired that makes you feel? Animals have no place in schools.

Please be a troll.

Um, no. My child actually takes Zyrtec every day because she has real allergies and not fake class pet allergies. She functions just fine. A lot of children take daily allergy medicines. We are not all weirdo granola anti-vaxx mommies like you.

Your child will be moved to a different classroom.

Oh sweetie, it's far more likely that one of her tablemates has a cat or dog whose fur is on their clothing than your child is allergic to the class pet on the other side of the room that she doesn't even come into contact with.

Probably this.

You want the class pet to be ended for everyone instead of just your kid being accommodated by switching classes?

I had a friend with a dozen cats. Everyday she came to school with cat hair on her backpack. Would not surprise me if it was also on her clothes.

Talk to the teacher about this, OP. Maybe they can try a few changes to find out what and where the allergen is. First, maybe they could move your kid's desk to see if it's another kid. If not, they could try having the class pet hang out in another classroom to see if it really is the class pet.

I hate that teachers have to take on so many responsibilities with helping to raise other people’s children. Teachers have to be super hero’s, they have to teach your child responsibilities like a pet, teach them the curriculum, teach them to take care of their basic needs, teach them manners. Can teachers just teach the content?!?!

OP is the reason we can't have nice things. People who complain all the time about everything - it's why FCPS ruined all the fun things about 4th grade (colonial day, Jamestown field trip, etc.), why all the other field trips nowadays are just awful (we can't do anything fun lest someone like OP freak out about their child's exposure to, for example, farm animals), why there are very limited assemblies (OP was probably offended by the African-American author talking about the need for diversity in literature), why the John Lewis unit in Benchmark was X'd out last year (oh no, we can't talk about death), etc.

Ha, anti vax is the last way to describe me. I think the covid vaccine should be mandatory. I also have severe animal allergies and have spent days being doped up on Zyrtec and feeling like a zombie. I do not function just fine, but it's a choice between zombie and having my throat on fire. Neither are acceptable for learning.

No animals in schools. The health needs of children come first.

That teacher thinks she is befriending the kids with the guinea pig. They don’t even use it to teach anything. She should remove the allergen-filled guinea pig. Let these kids breathe cleaner air. Lots of kids have asthma today. A guinea pig in the classroom is a bad idea.

Sounds like all your vaccines and drugs have messed you up.
