It’s a strict 8/1-7/31 age range. Grade and GY have nothing to do with what age group a kid plays in soccer.

How many kids have you seen lose opportunities to GY kids? I’ve never seen a hold back that played sports and was good.

And ecnl showcases are strictly for recruiting for a place at college with a 3-5 year age range.

Different poster but the two redshirted kids in my son’s 5th grade class are exceptional athletes. But they play soccer based on their true age not their grade .

ECNL showcase game results count for wildcards. If they allow playing down someone will exploit it with 11 players a year or two older than the other team. Just to get their clubs team into playoffs.
