I think it’s okay if it’s generally just for a year or two while you get a bathroom redo sorted out.

Usualky you can’t just “get a new tub.” You have to redo the surround at a minimum.

It is an issue for any older tub. I think 1978 is when they stopped using lead in finishing materials.




It's a non issue because you aren't exposed to enough to matter. Even if you ate it, it still wouldn't matter as far as the lead. More lead in the water.

I loved in a rental that reglazed the tub. I hated it. Just be aware this is not a permanent solution

Is there a different process than the reglazing mentioned here (that most seem to hate), for restoring a cast iron tub that’s past its prime?
