I don’t mean to hijack this thread (I’m 💯 with you OP.) We told you this would happen and yet we as a country still elected this absolutely horrid and incompetent monster into office, and we’re paying the price. OP I have no hope of a career so now I’m just thinking “job.” But even low paying jobs want experience. I’m in my late 50s. I built a career I was proud of only to have it destroyed, and I can’t even get a job at a bookstore.

Can you drove for Uber/doordash? You need incoming coming in regardless of the amount..once money starts flowing again you will be less depressed about life.

Not always the ideal situation, but can you find something in another city/state? You have to go to where the jobs are, and sometimes, this ends up being a blessing in disguise.

It's definitely scary to be jobless (been laid off twice), but hold on. Do what you need to do to survive.

Move in with family (I did that once); downsize; move to a diff city/state. Again, not ideal, but you gotta do what you gotta do to survive.

I have a high school senior, so I'm trying to stay local so she can graduate here. I can't even afford to downsize because I literally have no money. The only family I have are my parents, but they live in a 55+ community in a one bedroom and aren't allowed, nor have the space to accommodate two more people. Her father is a deadbeat who's been out of our lives since she was a baby so I can't even get any help from him. The timing of this couldn't be any worse.

I hate my ex wife but I love my daughter. Men who don't want to finally support their kids are terrible human beings. I am not very close to my daughter, but as far money she is set now and in the future as well.

Downsize and start building bottom up. Restaurants are hiring. You can make $30 an hour easily.
I live in a $1600 studio after selling my condo.
I invested the condo money and now have a lot of money in the market growing giving me security.

I heard being a instacart shopper and door dasher gives you flexible hours. One woman I know babysat and was a shopper with kid in tow.

Babysitting in this area is also like $25-35 an hour and no taxes right?

Hang in there. Also your daughter can get babysitting jobs to pay for activities.

So sorry you are going through this. I wish there was some program for people struggling like this. Hugs and hang in there but your daughter really needs you to be here even if she's not showing you love right now.

Although it does beg the question, adults with no family of their own (no spouse or dependents) and now no job, is there anything to motivate us to keep going? I feel like I would better serve the universe as fertilizer for a tree. I would be helping something that way.
