I wouldn't call it a "fake" account no. I had one which identified me that I closed for various reasons, mostly I got tired of having to "like" particular friends who post excessively. I know have a smaller one which doesn't identify me.

I contacted a small group of people I had been following previously to let them know it was me and we follow each other. They don't identify me publicly.

I actually don't do this on instagram - mostly look at celebs. But curious.

I do look up old friends or bfs on facebook, so always a little nervous about that.

But fake profiles seems . . . a lot of work.

Ok, if you are using a whole fake persona, what are you mostly doing with it? Just following others, but have no followers? Do you have content, random or themed?

I would probably use it just to look at other accts, without being " someone to friend " but I don't have the energy to create new content on one.

I've created this whole fantasy persona of things I think are nice. It's like my secret pinterest account, so I guess that's the theme. I only have 1200 followers, and I'm following like 5,000 people.
