At different ends of the price spectrum, Trumpette and Old Navy socks were the only ones that stayed on my babies. Not necessarily obscure, though. |
Cute pouches. Great for keeping baby stuff organized in your bag. The big fits diapers and wipes. Little one for pacifiers or meds etc.

Not a blanket — the snot sucker was a good one (and honestly nice to have more than one even if she already has one), the crinkle paper also sounds cool, and a really good tether is always welcome (sofia the giraffe, tether mitt, or crinkle book)
Alternatively, we love books and get a lot of use out of them — Sandra boynton board books are fun. |
I am the one who suggested it. I have teens, and did not know about this when I had them, but now it's one of my go to gifts for new babies. Also makes a great stocking stuffer. |
Someone got me a soft woven basket about a foot high. I had no idea what to do with it and then suddenly it became the place to throw all baby related things and later stuffed animals/toys. Great to organize and get clutter out from the nursery. |

This is my go to. It's an insane price for a rattle, but worth every penny. Babies are mesmerized.
