Obscure baby gift that you didn’t know you needed but love?

Anonymous
A close acquaintance just had a baby. I’m going to meet the baby and want to bring a small gift. I have no idea what she already has or wants or is using, but I want to bring something small, around $20. I’d love ideas or suggestions for something you absolutely loved but would have never thought to buy yourself!

Baby paper,

Little crinkly sheets that can slip in your pocket and are the perfect toy for when your baby is in that paper obsessed age. No paper cuts, no
choking risk, reusable, cheap.

I would have thought to buy these myself but probably would have refrained because it felt frivolous, but I got one of these stroller blankets in a really beautiful print from a friend as a baby gift and I really loved it:

My family is really into practical baby gifts and money was tight for us when we had our first, so I didn't have a lot of stuff that was just pretty and special. I didn't realize how much I needed a few things like that until I got this gift.

Muslin burp cloths, one layer muslin blankets for summertime.

Muslin anything was my favorite gift to receive. Blankets, burp cloths, bibs.

Freddy the firefly
Winkle rattle

Idk why but these are best sellers for a reason. Babies love that stupid firefly and the winkle is somehow perfect for when they first start to grab and chew stuff.

"Dundee burp cloths/diapers" on Amazon. They are the absolute best burp cloths, but they come in plain packaging so I often get something cute to wrap with them.

Beg to differ. My kids didn't care for the 2 we had (both gifts).

They would have liked the crinkly paper.

I got a no-brand baby songs album (the kind from a rack at Bed, Bath, and Beyond) and it was so nice-sounding I played it at naptime a lot. Also got a no-brand kid's choir Christmas songs album that's called Christmas Angels that I really love.
