Honestly, I am. Because in this culture the people who would ask this question without specifying their race, which is relevant, are white.

I was wondering that. My white teens ride daily to school, as do most of their classmates who are too far to walk. But at least a few, definitely not all, of their black and brown friends' parents have been driving more recently or asking about carpooling.

My white (not sure why that matters) 15 yr old takes the yellow and red line to and from school every day.

When OP says “currently,” that should change your assumption.

It did change my assumptions. Before the feds went bananas I wouldn’t have thought that race was as obvious a factor and so wouldn’t have been as surprised to see a parent of a black or brown teen leaving it out.

High school DS rides metro everyday to get to school and back home. Rides from Bethesda to Fort Totten. Your snowflake will be fine.

How can you be living here and not be sure why that matters? I'm sincerely wondering, not trying to shame. My white teens are very aware that their friends could be treated differently based on their skin tone and tensions right now are high in a different way than before.

+1. And the SC has pretty much said it's perfectly legal for the government to snatch people off the street if you look Hispanic, speak Spanish, and appear to be working class.

Not everyone is obsessed with skin pigmentation.

That is true, but the fascist government sending people to snatch people from the DC streets certainly are.

Not everyone is obsessed with skin pigmentation.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to ignore it.

You realize elementary school students K-2nd getting a parent pad for the subway in NYC. After that they subway on their own

Like cut the umbilical cord. My preteens take buses and metros everywhere with friends.

And my colored teen knows this is just what he has to deal with and accept, so ultimately it doesn’t matter.

Hope he’s wearing protection while OPs daughter rides him
