Why August 1st?
If they’re going to switch to school year that’s fine. But this isn’t the same as a school year. Kid in the same grade with birthdays in August will be with the next grade down. So August 8th grade kids playing with 7th grade.
Seems odd.

What does that mean?

Also, the question of where a dec child plays seems common sense, it'll depend on their level of play, and I don't think that has changed. If they're a starter and one of the most impactful players on the team, they will play up with their current team, if not, they will play on age (in other words repeat whatever level they're playing now).

I imagine this was discussed ad nauseam in other popular string on this board over the last year.

Please go there to hash out your grievances. The train has left the station over the hows and whys.

And?

And? If it was to make a change, then make it to fix the issue. This does not solve it and still leaves kids trapped. Go grade year or allow each state to be based on their state's enrollment cut-off. Works great for some states, not for others.

Assuming a kid can always play up if they can handle it then in reality this is helping the less developed or maybe undersize kid. So in reality If your playing with the older age group you earned it ?

Ok. Under your proposal, it would impossible to administrate tournaments across states lines.

People have already complained for a year so please go in a corner and complain silently.

This is what we have and deal with it.

Yes but a lot less of them.

Congrats. Dec birthday goes from being the youngest on their team to being on the older side. Winning!

Similar but they all started school on time so have some tough choices to make.

There will be an infinitesimal amount of trapped kids now. Give it a rest.

The net effect will be minimal but there are winners and losers.

Big Winner: August birthdays
Big Losser: July birthdays

They play down a year from what they are currently playing. So a december 2011 will join the january 2012s.

My August 2012 will likely quit if she’s force to play with younger kids. No plans for college so will just do a different sport.

This is just your opinion. A lot of ‘trapped’ August kids would prefer to play with their grade.
