Do you tip at an airport business class/lounge?

I have never seen a tip jar in an airport lounge and I fly a lot. Which one was it?

Me either.

I’ve generally slowed down my tipping these last few years since it’s gotten out of control. Usually, I tip 15% at sit down restaurants where I used to do 20%.

However, I do tip if I like the conversation or a bartender is giving me one of those free drinks the lounges have.

If there was a tip jar there, then I would have tipped. But generally, I don’t tip in business lounges, cause it’s mostly buffet style and never seen a tip jar.

Saying "I don't carry cash" is an arrogant way of proclaiming you're unprepared and stingy. I can't believe you people.

Thus how would you expect the OP to tip without cash?

If tipping is expected in a particular place, then one should carry cash when travelling to that place.

The question here is if tipping is expected.

Also, airports often have people who expect tips, for example those who work at curbside bag checks.

As an aside, I would say that it is a personal safety risk to leave the house without carrying some cash, even if one prefers to not pay in cash as a matter of course, but that is a separate discussion.

Please tell me when in the last 5 years you needed cash when you didn’t know ahead you would need it and you were in danger because you didn’t have it.

PP here and there are countries that won't accept US credit cards outside of US establishments such as hotels. Cash is king in a number of places.

You would have expected to need it the …and this is not a “safety” issue anyway. The poster said having no cash is a “personal safety issue.” It absolutely is not.

Most people don’t carry cash.

That has zero relevance to whether tipping is proper in a given situation.

Not having cash is 100% relevant to tipping in this situation. Are you too low class to frequent airport lounges!? Everything is included so you’re not taking out a credit card or phobe to pay for anything. Thus how would you expect the OP to tip without cash?

You sound very classy, though.

At a Hampton Inn in Boston, I saw a tip jar at the free breakfast.

I do tip bartenders a dollar or two.

What do you think is happening in the kitchen when you order guacamole, silly?

If I’m at the bar (chase sapphire, capital one etc), I always tip the bartender. If I’m at a table, I don’t.

Yes most lounges I have been at, I have seen a tip jar at the bar only, not anywhere else.

I think most people carry a bit of cash, especially when traveling. Don't you tip your bellman? Or are you too low class to frequent hotels that offer this type of service.

I've never seen people tip anywhere besides the bar at airport lounges?
