How does one search for spyware?

Ronan Farrow reported on the Department of Homeland Security’s new $2m contract with an Israeli firm called Paragon for their Graphite spyware, which can breach encrypted messaging services such as Signal or Telegram. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice), an agency within DHS, will almost certainly use the technology for Trump’s stated plans to deport illegal immigrants en masse.

“All of the privacy law experts that I’m talking to are very, very afraid right now,” he added. “This tech is just increasingly everywhere.”

If you have to ask you probably already have it on your phone.

The type of spyware I'm talking about is targeted. You should worry if you are a journalist, a civil society member, an activist, an immigrant, if you work for an important department in the government, a politician, etc. Go to amnesty international's spyware info or https://citizenlab.ca/tag/spyware/

Everyone is a target. You are being disingenuous, sounds like on purpose.

Many phones try to block user access. You can find hacks for your particular software online or on TOR sites.

Most phone apps are effectively spyware, as user data are valuable and often get sold (sometimes to the government). This is a primary component of many apps' business models. Read the terms of service for pretty much anything.

Cellular telephones in general are basically tracking devices that also happen to be useful for making phone calls.

Spyware allows them to turn on your microphone and camera without your knowledge.
