Car accident: Is this required?

Why? Because people often recant and then insurance will eventually blame you. Even if partially it'll raise your rates.

As a side note. Why would anyone let them self be recorded.

I has an accident I was tired and did not complete stop at a stop sign. Later tboned me and was yelling and screaming at me I was at fault. I ran a stop sign and I wrecked her new car. A guy at store was taking a smoking break and witnessed whole thing. Told lady when cops come they can come to my store if you need a statement. He went back to work. Cops came. I said nothing. Exchanged info. My car even though totaled and two broken windows and a flat was barely drivable but I lived two blocks away and told cop since totalled anyhow driving on rim home, will park it legally in front of house and call insurance.

I get statement from my insurance company. It is 50/50. My insuance refused to pay to fix her car. Witness statement was a speeding SUV with women on the phone looking down plowed my car. She also never hit horn, no skidmarks. Speed limit was 30 mph and talking to adjuster who viewed my car she was going at least 50 mph. Since she hit me in middle my car passed over half way in front of her with no horn. And interesting even after she hit me and dragged me still no brakes.

I just sat in car looking forward and did not respond. I was in shock a bit. Odd part she is one who wanted the witness. He said he saw accident before it happend as he saw a SUV flying at over 50 mph on a side street with lady on the phone and was thinking that looks dangerous and one second later she hit me right where he was standing a few feet away.
