NEED a Solo Trip in October!

I did a solo trip to the Isle of Skye in Scotland for 2 weeks last September. It was amazing.

True, it is a drive, which should be factored in, but I don’t think it’s a scary drive.

Asheville is coming back strong and the folks there are so welcoming of visitors. The area is beautiful at this time of year and many hiking trails are open. The Asheville Art Museum is a gem and there are many galleries and artists' studios in town as well. The restaurants are varied and fantastic. You'll find many options for lodging -- bigger hotels downtown and B&Bs and inns throughout the area. You can fly direct from Dulles and BWI.

For a solo refresh? No way.

Don't need a pedal bar full of bridesmaids to enjoy some concerts and a model Parthenon.

Have you thought about Paris? The flight is direct and not $, and it's gorgeous in Oct.

That was my feeling. I go there all the time alone for work and find it depressing.
Portland can also be depressing.
Sedona would be beautiful. Asheville is great but has it bounced back from the floods?

I love Portland and Sedona, but both are a long flight just to get a change of scenery for a few nights. I'd save those for when you have more time or a specific reason to go there.

For this trip, I'd go for Asheville or Savannah.

Savannah, love the architecture and the haunted history and food.

Asheville. Check into grove park inn and reserve a spa treatment in advance so that you can enjoy the spa.

Sing me a song of a lass that is gone. Say could that lass be I?

OP does not have enough time to fall through a ring of standing stones, time travel several centuries, fall in love with a hunky warrior, get pregnant, escape the consequences of the battle of Culloden, engineer a return back through the stones, and still get back to the daily grind on Monday. Need to save time travel and pregnancy for a longer vacation when they can be properly enjoyed.

+1. It may also be still warm so could spend a morning at the ocean on tybee island.

Are you in DC? I do a Philly to Portland AA flight periodically and I find it a tough flight. Long, no food service, uncomfortable seats. I wouldn't do it for a quick getaway.

Old school DCUM -- quirky, funny, with just a tad of snark. I love you.

Gosh me too. The Gaylord is a conference hotel I’d be so sad doing a solo trip where I work.

OP Portland is too far for a short trip, same with Sedona due to driving.

I’d do Savannah or Asheville.

Santa Fe is another great option it’s often where I go (female) for solo weekends away great food great art great museums. Good vibe. Stay at ojo caliente!
