A bunch of colleges will give you generic English credit for an advanced high school course, but they will still make you take their freshman writing seminar. Such classes are good for standardizing college work expectations, providing freshmen a chance to meet each other in a small group setting, etc.
So the question would be whether your kid prefers DP English or the AP Lang & Lit sequence. It might come down to the teachers but a decision might be better based on the syllabus. |
Some colleges dont acknowledge the IB credit unless you go the IB diploma versus a certificate. |
My kid did this last year. They did 5 not ap. It was so bad they dropped Spanish. I don’t think they prepare the kids for ap. |
World langauges in HS needs overhaul. Most kids are not prepared for higher levels by learning only through school and doing the homework assigned for that world languge class. Immersion students do better and of course it helps if language is spoken/used outside school. |
