Oh and forgot to say: The firm he went to is owned by a Native Corporation, so his federal health insurance never broke stride .

| It’s weird how on DCUM everyone only knows high performers who took the fork and they were all a major loss to gov, but IRL my friends were grateful for the exit of many low-functioning duds. |
That would only happen at notoriously terrible fed workplaces like BVA, SSA, or TSA. High performers left if they had marketable skills. If you're in an agency with poor private sector prospects then you have to stick around and hope the riff raff leaves instead of getting a RIF. |
| Some of our friends took the Fork and were very happy. But they had about 1-2 years left to retirement anyway, so basically, they retired now. They got a very good deal, getting paid for doing nothing for months. |
Just because you only know people who work with low-functioning duds doesn't mean there weren't plenty of high performers that took the fork. Generally high performers like to work with high performers and avoid the duds. |
Well they didn’t seem to mind working among all the duds before offered a fork. |
NP. Of course people mind working with duds. My office wasn't eligible to take FORK, but I assure you, someone always asks a dumb repeat question for the 10th time in our weekly office wide meeting that makes the high performers visibly frustrated! |
At my org, yes - they took it, got paid, and any that wanted to now have private sector jobs related to their former gov't employment. It was a good deal in general. |
Of the people I know I'd say the ratio is more 70/30 or 80/20, but I am in an agency with a highly motivated workforce. But I am not crying in my soup over the senior leaders who quite literally believe(d) they are not replaceable and would be hurting us if they left. We are fine. There are plenty of us left behind that have plenty of years of experience and we'd like our shot now. |
Talking out your rearend there |
Winning! America made so great! |
| I can tell you what happened to the feds who didn't take the fork. They're drowning in work while still paying the salaries of the fork people. |
Either they retired or found a new job. It’s not that deep. |
|
The fork and DOGE were never about efficiency or cutting costs.
Glad it worked out well for some feds. |
Same! If some MAGA idiot is offering tax payer money for you to sit around doing jack then I can't hate on the people who accept it. At least it's not just farmers in Nebraska getting direct handouts these days. |
