Can you switch to a different high school counselor

We lost the good counselor (9th grade) when she had a baby. The 10th grade counselor was horrible and didn’t inform teachers that my child’s father had died. The day DC returned to school, the English teacher assigned my child to read aloud a passage in which a character learns their parent is dead. My child was speechless. Other students started yelling at the teacher WTH! Poor guy never got an email from the counselor. We got a third counselor that DC was with 11-12.

That's outrageous but unsurprising. You cant chalk that up to being over worked. A parent death is top tier code red priority.
Some people are just mean or lazy. And some of them work in our schools.
Im very sorry that happened to your child.

A spectacular counselor is simply someone who does their job. Returns calls, writes recs,’etc.
