Did you order dorm stuff and ship directly to the dorm?

At DS's school, anything shipped in a 2 weekend window in August would be delivered to the dorm room before move in. So walk into the dorm room and voila! all the boxes are there.

That is a very nice perk!

OP should investigate what the mailroom situation is like at the school in question. At all four of my kids' schools, packages needed to be picked up from the mailroom, which in all cases was a bit of a walk from the dorm, one up a substantial hill.
