So if all pregnant women stop taking Tylenol we'd be all good. Use heroin instead, ladies. Thanks HHS! |
On the flip side, my wife took folic supplements and has never been able to take tylenol, and we have two kids with ASD. Kids also can't take tylenol. |
Low folate is associated with neural tube defects. Knew someone who had a bundle of nerves at the base of his back had had two use braces and crutches to walk, was unable to control when he defectated. So, US started adding folate to flour and the incidence of these birth defects decreased. So, let’s not go back to the time when we didn’t have evidenced based medicine that determined how to manage our public health. Link from the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/birth-defects/about/neural-tube-defects.html |
Potential link, follow up studies did not show the association. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2817406 This article discusses using sibling controls and suggests the link on other studies was due to confounding factors. Possible links pop up in data all the time because you get data artifacts and you have to properly control for things. It's called confounding factors. There's some question as to whether what you're actually seeing is a link between fevers or illnesses causing fever in pregnant women and autism because right now acetaminophen is the only way they have OTC to control that. So women who get sick during their pregnancy take more tylenol. Leaving fevers untreated could exacerbate the issue. |
He had to find something since he was going to identify the cause by September. Also, he got crucified in that hearing so he has to have something to show for himself. Even tr*%ps former surgeon general is calling for RFK JR's firing. It's time. |
I don't know anything about anything but I do know one thing: this is such a stupid comment. I don't think that even the crazies are saying "pop a Tylenol pregnant and your kid will be autistic." |
I don’t understand some of you upset over this, it’s not new information. I am grateful it is now being discussed more prevalently and thus might prevent just 1 child from developing autism. |
Trump’s former SG Dr. Jerome Adams is a decent man and has deep background in public health. He was regretful of his choice to serve under Trump. |
“Does her own research” I’ll bet. 👆 |
Anything coming out of HHS has zero credibility now. Let's not even pretend. |
Because announcing you know the cause of something when the follow up studies aren't showing it is poor science and can cause potential harm. It could actually increase autism if it leads to untreated fevers and that's what the actual confounding controls are showing. |
BS
BS BS BS |
A child does not develop autism. A child is born with it. Genetics is where you want look- not food, vitamins, supplements, or medication. |
And it was thoroughly studied and refuted.Fun Fact- autism has been around since before Tylenol. |
