Many issues converging: Contact SB and Reid!

Will middle school be later and elementary earlier? iI'd like to know about childcare, I guess everyone would. And HS my next year 9th grader will go to West Springfield maybe...we don't know. Wish we moved to Houston with my sister maybe steadier for the kids. They want to stay here with friends and sports.

Check OP and send that email to school board and Reid. All issues covered.

Interesting post here. A great illustration of what is going on in homes around Fairfax County.

To PP. No one here on DCUM knows--unless there are SB spies. And, this is what our Superintendent and School Board do not understand. This is about people's plans and living situations. People need clarity and certainty. They need to know what is going to happen and what really comes next.

Nothing about this process has been clear.

No one knows... about so many impactful things. This is what SB and Reid need to acknowledge and adjust to.

OP if new maps come out in October I will be shocked they agree by the end of the year. I think this all gets moved to next year, sorry for schools that are really crowded now. My 4 kids are at Shrevewood and Kilmer and Marshall, big but I think will just stay big.

OP do SB members read their emails anyway, what is the point.

Eliminate IB as and high school enrollment will look very different, then look at numbers and boundaries.

Agree but is this a real possibility being considered? It comes up on DCUM but I'm not sure in SB meetings.

Don't know but may as well try, see email addresses in first post.

Melanie Meren, Ricardy Anderson, maybe Matteo Dunn...might listen and challenge Reid. A bit anyway. Others seem to prioritize timeline over sensible changes.

I heard the map for HS next year will be from center out, no transfers, up to enrollment no transfers. Makes sense but what are the numbers and buses. Kids at new KA HS will start 9th and 10th, makes sense, need to find out if my son is there.

How does this relate? I'm listening but...

AAP centers should be eliminated not only at middle schools, but also at elementary. Nothing confuses boundaries more than sending kids elsewhere when they should be educated at their own base school.

Interesting. Mine are at Hughes and South Lakes but we live in Herndon, choosing AAP and IB instead of staying even though it's not great there either. 7th grader afraid to change classes because of wild kids shoving and yelling, bathrooms are scary. Cafeteria is principal yelling the whole time, stressful.
