Isn’t Hillaria a former pro ballroom dancer? How is that fair?

Yes, I finally started voting one season a couple years ago when I got irritated by how the voting and judging were going. It's pretty easy to do. Not sure how it will work this season but in the past you got 10 votes per contestant per voting method. |
Okay first night impressions only of the people I know/care about:
Jordan Chiles - I hate how the crowd cheered for every simple gymnastics thing they did. Are they such a simple lot that they're THAT easily impressed? Jordan is very stiff and you could tell she occasionally told herself "remember to smile/give face!" It'll be interesting to see if she can improve. She needs to be good at dance, not at moving from one gym trick to another during music (aka a gymnastics floor routine). Hilaria Baldwin - is it me or did Gleb .. never want to make eye contact with her? Does he dislike her (already)? She ... is kind of good. Needs some cleanup but for a first show, yeah. Hilaria's got skills. And yeah, it pains me to say that bc of how much I hate her. Dylan - You can tell he treats women well by how he dances with his partner. He needs to work on facial expressions - he plastered one smile on his face and left it there the whole time (maybe nerves?). His dancing was okay, I need to see how he does different dances and if he can get lighter on his feet. Intrigued and want to see more. Danielle Fishel - it's hard to watch someone when they're not fully confident in their body, but I applaud her for really going for it. She clearly has little to no dance experience so I hope she stays in the game long enough for us to see her improve. She let her partner lead a bit too much. She needs to become an equal partner. Robert Irwin - for some reason - maybe his body type - I thought he'd dance heavy, but he was really light on his feet. His dance partner gave him some tougher choreography than you'd expect for a first week but he rose to the challenge. Tons of confidence, a pleasure to watch. Corey Feldman - painful to watch. He really needs to stretch every day. Twice a day. No flexibility. He needs to learn how to glide rather than stamp when walking. Even his Michael Jackson moves were awful and stiff. The only thing good about this was he looked like he was having fun. But his dancing was crap. Elaine (Meredith from the Lindsey Lohan movie) - she's really got potential! I hope her partner works with her on elongating her legs. She has long legs and it will look great if she learns how to stop bending her knees all the time. It seemed like she had a confidence issue. Alix Earle - she has great potential and there's something about her waist/hips she needs to work on. I have full confidence Val will notice that and get her better. |
The word "stars" in the title is doing some serious heavy lifting. |
He was hot! |
Love him. |
I had never heard of Alix Earle until last night, and I can't believe she became popular on social media. She has zero charisma. She does not move fluidly like a dancer, but Val can definitely work with her and her built in fan base will keep them in the competition. She and the celeb (Whitney?) with Mark Ballas got lucky with their partners. My favorite was Robert. I like Witney, and she choreographed a great routine for his first dance. |
