Obermeyer is by far the best value ski and snowboard clothing. If you can get it on sale, then it's truly an outstanding deal. Excellent features, good waterproofing, etc.

Buying an insulated coat and pants will negate the cost of having to acquire multiple layers. That said, insulated stuff gets HOT on sunny days, so make sure the jacket and pants have venting that you can open to dump body heat.
