| Lidocaine patch. |
Seriously? What brand. No lidocaine patch I’ve ever tried helps. |
| Vicodin. Never tried Oxy but I’m sure it is similar or better. If you have serious pain, there is no substitute for opioids. |
| Hydrocodone makes me vomit and Oxy was fine but with my surgery and my medical history, I was pretty worried about constipation. Toradol worked surprisingly well. I was able to manage my post op abdominal surgery pain fine with it, though I do have a high pain tolerance. |
Meloxicam did nothing for me. -dp |
| Toradol probably the most effective (besides the epidural obviously!). Oxy worked very well too, but of course it makes you feel high (which is pleasant but not practical if you have responsibilities to take care of like kids or work). And then makes you feel itchy and nauseous if you’re me. Motrin 600mg works best in terms of over the counter relief |
+1 but I needed it for a csection, but my god.. sweet relief. My old school mother even told me to take the drug (before I had the emergency C) rather than deal with the pain. And she had 4 kids naturally. |
OP? It’s for PHYSICAL pain. Are you getting it on the street? |
|
Meditation. Tylenol + advil for common pains, but for the serious or chronic kind? Training my head to not make it worse was the best medicine.
You can experience pain without suffering. |
| Morphine!! I cried when they took my IV drip away. Sigh. |
| Percocet, after both c-sections. I didn’t feel high or euphoric or anything, it just took care of the pain really well. |
| The morphine drip I had for a limited time after surgery. I understand how people get addicted. |
Yeppppp, that magic morphine button after surgery is amazing. But 600mg of Advil is magic for everyday pains. |
So….meditation now cures pain? |
DP. Not in the US. But I agree, it's very effective as a painkiller. I have only used narcotics a couple of times (Vicodin and percocet), but I would prefer Voltaren which is an NSAID. If the source of pain is muscle spasm (which is common for me), cyclobenzaprene (brand name flexeril) is the most effective thing I've taken. |
