Mold at the Schools

Leaks, mold, mice… all par for the course in FCPS!

Let’s take care of our existing facilities, then, before we splurge on a brand new high school. It’s obscene we’d buy a Saudi palace for one group of kids and leave others in mold-infested schools.

So, put those excess kids on a forty minute bus ride to a moldy school? Yeah. That's a great idea.

No, dummy. Take that $150 million and clean up the mold before you spoiled brats get a sparkly palace.

The mold gets attention because it makes for some gross pictures on TV but there are many other examples of decaying facilities within FCPS. The notion that we’re going to spend over $150M on KAA when other schools are moldy and/or falling apart is obscene.

My trailer had a leaky roof last year, no air conditioning the entire year before that, and currently the a/c shuts off at z4:00 pm and over non school days, so when I come in each morning the condensation is so bad I can literally mop water off the desks and glide across the floor like ice skates. I can’t make copies the day before or the papers are soggy the next day.

I have no doubt my walls are filled with mold.

The mold at Hayfield was not confined to trailers.

Reid needs to go. She's an abject failure.

Arguably the 2nd best or 3rd best HS in FCPS is McLean HS.

It is decrepit and falling apart. But the SB and Reid really HATE McLean because they see it as benefiting from “unearned privilege.”

So they intentionally let it rot.

People like Reid and the SB members think building conditions are beneath them to worry about. They are more interested in grand gestures, whether it’s a new school that may not be needed or boundary changes that may not be wanted.

The natural consequences of their negligence and mismanagement include moldy schools and sick kids.

How can they justify spending over $150M on King Abdullah Academy if they have unremediated mold issues at their current schools?

What are you talking about?

Can you not read? Remediating mold at existing schools ought to be a higher priority than buying a new one.
