Are house cleaner rates negotiable?

Then see what they say

I would say "Okay thanks for the quote; this may not be the right fit because our next door neighbor with a similar size house said they pay $200 so we were thinking it would be that amount."

Your my neighbor had no right to quote her price. This might get your be neighbor in trouble as as he might start charging them more

What rates are we talking about exactly? I’d be curious to know what the going hourly rate for a housecleaner is .

Wdyt?

Maybe your house is a pig sty.

They also need to make a living and just like you they know what they're worth. If you can't afford, or you are too cheap to pay what your were quoted, then clean your own. house

And maybe you're the pig.

I think it's this.

I've had the same cleaning ladies for 15 years. I pay well, give two days Christmas bonus, and two vacation days. They are here every two weeks without fail.

No comrade. All rates for labor are set by the committee in the best interests of the masses.

OP here. This is my thought as well. I’d rather get a few more quotes and pay someone what they ask for. DH thinks they intentionally start high knowing people try to negotiate.

That’s how most men tend to think, in my experience. But the cleaning lady isn’t a man.

If they came highly recommended by someone that you trust, I would just pay the rate they requested as long as your family can afford it.

Reason being is that cleaning 🧹 houses is tough, physical laborious work and if someone is responsible, dependable ➕ trustworthy then that is just priceless.

I could try to negotiate a price tag on a car w/a car salesman but could NEVER do so w/a domestic worker since they do not make very much $ as it is.

Hope this helps.

Maybe you have pets and they don’t. That makes a huge difference to how dirty your house is.

Potentially you can drop parts of the service to save too.

“I only need bathrooms. What can you quote me?”

I would think they would cut corners a bit/spend less time since you negotiated down.

Have you given THEM a raise in 15 years? Of your own volition? If not, you ARE the pig! (NP)

+1
I would pay the higher rates but add a few things to do and I would check more/be more particular.
We don't do bed making but I would either add something like that or vacuuming windowsills or washing more windows or something.
