I’d do one Rubbermaid type of tub for each kid. Use the “does it spark joy?” Marie Kondo test. Your kids may enjoy the stuff if and when they have kids. If you are really low on storage space you could get some of those under-bed shaped tubs. I wouldn’t have your ex hold onto these - too special.
