I guess I don't understand the issue. Seems totally on par for a big law firm to push someone out. Don't they do that all the time? And he's pissed about it. Isn't that normal too? What am I missing? |
The story is generally believable in this day and age, until he said he hired an attorney to represent him and now believes that attorney has ties to Covington. Sounds a bit nonsensical and paranoid. |
That’s your opinion. People don’t go public to fight against powerful institutions unless they have a substantial grievance. |
The fact that he’s complaining that a partner at Covington called him “nig***” and subjected him to severe verbal abuse? Or is that “normal” for you too. |
Have you seen his settlement proposal on his LI page?! It sounds unhinged.I feel so bad for him. |
And that’s your opinion. |
Are you insane? Your profession has nothing to do with the veracity of his story. Why would your chosen career have anything to do with what actually happened here? |
Exactly. That's what this is....and I think they pushed him out. Did they say the n word? Probably. And he said something to in all likelihood |
My word. This simply did not happen. I have no love lost for Covington, which ran my spouse out of the firm years ago, but there is simply no way -- no way -- that a partner called him the n-word during a conversation encouraging him to "pursue other opportunities."
I mean, come on, the guy literally is posting on LinkedIn that "my President," meaning DJT, will be personally intervening on his behalf tomorrow. Delusional. He worked at Covington for like a year and his settlement offer is $43 million. Posted publicly on LinkedIn. Just completely bonkers. |
Like in a divorce, it’s not always about maxing the settlement even if your ex is loaded. |
This. |
Attorneys have much much more incentive to suck up to big law than defend an individual, who in addition is apparently from a random family. At some point, connections and success intersect and he is not yet at this point. |
I am sorry, but you are going to have to explain yourself. What the hell are you talking about? If someone rants and raves like a lunatic and says they suffered a traumatic situation then that means that you automatically have to accept everything they say as true? Is that what you’re saying? |
This did not happen. |
Plaintiff-side employment attorneys are not sucking up to biglaw. Most of them really believe in their work. Maybe he found one of the very few that doesn’t and apparently was actually conspiring with Covington, but it sounds pretty outlandish. |
