| I don’t fry chicken, but for something like that, I would have probably cooked it all before calling people to dinner. On the other hand, when I cook pancakes, I serve them as I cook them, and encourage people to enjoy them while they’re hot. |
|
I would be flattered because it meant that the food smelled and looked so good, he couldn’t wait.
But I wouldn’t encourage that behavior. I do let my family eat the sides/salads as I prepare them. But we eat together and I tried to keep sneaking the main to just dabbling not full fledged eating. |
That's not fair. If you eating while cooking you are getting more than everyone else. You must completely abstain from eating during cooking, |
You should have a warming table so that you can follow the rules for eating. |
|
That's unbelievably rude and shows a real.lack of respect for your efforts. Also dumb to grab just cooked food to eat, meat needs to rest post cooking.
For context I was making naan the other day and my husband came in and took over grilling the breads so I could roll the rest out faster and then clean up. If he came.in while you were frying chicken why didn't he offer to tidy up or set the table? |
If you’re tasting, that’s different than grabbing an entire piece of chicken. I taste as I go, too, to adjust for flavor, but it’s a dip of a clean spoon, not eating a huge portion. |
We all eat together once the meal is prepared. I'm not perfect, so there have been times we'll eat vegetables and potatoes because we're all starving and the meatloaf isn't finished cooking, but all the people eat together. |
| Ideally all food items should be completed and served at the same time, but that is often not practical. Hot food should be eaten while it is hot, it's a crime to let it cool in the name of etiquette. |
| My family does this too and it’s ok with me. People can tell and naturally start hovering when it’s almost done. As long as they don’t mess up the portioning, I take it as a compliment. |
We are Indian. We do the same. We enjoy our food and we want others to enjoy it too. And no, we do not have assigned portions. We cook lots of food and most of the time there are leftovers. |
Normal people don’t have to divide food into equal portions. Not everyone eats the same amount or even cares what others eat. Outside of OCM DCUM that is. |
I don't think of chicken wings as a complete piece of chicken. |
|
Oh God, that's so rude!
It would be bedlam if everyone decided to just start eating food while I am still getting dinner ready. No! We all sit down together and eat together. |
but how many spears of asparagus? how many!?!!!? |
| We eat together once all the food is put out. |
