Is being Ivy legacy a negative?

Very ignorant take, OP.

Most Ivies give preference to children of alumni, all other things being equal. They don't hide it. This has not changed, and is not likely to change, given that most of the Boards and high-level donors want legacy status to matter.

Stinginess doesn’t run in the genes. Your kid may become generous and start donating.

Worst case scenario, it doesn’t help. I can’t imagine there are penalties for your stinginess.
