| Cool story. Yay you! I make a lot less than you and it's too bothersome for me to track airline rewards. If I can upgrade once in a while, great. I've got a FT job and kids and myriad of other priorities in life. Sounds like you are doing fine without bothering with points and rewards too. Go celebrate. |
Um not the OP, but yes
I took my college kid to visit colleges up and down the east coast this summer on the train and value airlines (yes to the schools that we will be paying $90k a year for if she gets in). . I have never flown first class - but my DH does thru work Out HHI is “only” 1.5M though

You don't track points becuse you don't need to.
Thanks for sharing! |
Given that travel/comfort in travel is clearly not a major priority for you coupled with the fact that 200-400k miles is worth maybe the equivalent of 2 hours work at your HHI the answer to this seems pretty obvious. You’re either a troll or a fool (or likely both). |
| We are also high income. I don't track points, but I do check when I book. The issue is, normally our travel agent books our travel. So I use the points when I book things myself. I was able to book at a hotel that normally goes for $1500/night entirely on points. 😀 |
Yes. Not pp, but income over 1M per year. I won't book a quick flight in business class because it's just not worth it. I'm thin and the seats are fine. I also stay at Fairfield Inn etc sometimes. And I regularly pass on items I deem to expensive, out of a sense of justice. |
+1. If you’re just going to redeem for cash anyway, one of the several 2% back cards is probably simplest and may give a better value. |
|
I don't even want a card with points. Give me cash and credit it automatically.Keep it simple.
What's with the income story? |
|
This!! If you don't want to waste time tracking, then get a 2% cash back and be done. It's still a "good return" and requires no effort |
| You lost me at "We don’t fly that often. Maybe the whole family (5 of us) 3 times per year." |
