The info below should be read and filed away in case you need it. It sounds like they caught it early but she needs 1 full month of pills to work. The life cycle of Lyme is something like 21-29 or 30 days.
Research (see WSJ article on Chronic Lyme today) is showing that I think 20% of those who catch it right away end up with a chronic version, which is harder to treat.
Please learn as much as you can asap at LymeDisease.org. Google Burrascano's checklist. Bay Area Lyme Org has a new interview with him that I started watching on YouTube today.
Start a spreadsheet today and keep it going for several months detailing as much as you can (use Burrascano's checklist as a guide of what to track).
The info below is useful if she shows a worsening/lingering symptoms a few months in. The way our son's dr told us: Lyme suppresses the immune system allowing all the other bacteria etc that ticks can also carry to explode so you can end up with multiple infections as others have noted.
We went through 4 years of hell with our teen but survived it with: Lyme, Bartonella (causes stretch marks and horrific mental issues-anxiety, depression, eating disorders etc, Babesia - affects breathing (broke our washing machine with the outrageous fevers that causes and the laundry...) and Mycoplasma pneumonia (that took the longest to get rid of). An albuterol inhaler helped with the shortness of breath.
Lots of other natural supplements that can alleviate symptoms and provide some relief. Sunlight, vit D and barefoot outside helped a ton in the summers.
We found a LLMD (see ILADS to find one in your area) and had our kid pulse a variety of antibiotics and anti-malerial meds for several years until better. It was brutal but worth it-it saved his life.
However, out teen lost many abilities during those years and missed most of 9th grade, but survived and made it to college. Just graduated in a tough major this spring.
Best wishes - I really hope this isn't your daughter's path but I do try to spread the word to let others know how serious it can be.
This. I hope OP pays attention.
