No excuses re three kids and dog because I told a BFF with a dog that a while ago - that I believed the behavior was a temporary thing - but he kept pushing and pushing, offering pixies and other dog treats and yet spouting that he wanted to "rise above." |
Hey OP - I feel your pain. I hate my dog too. Well, not hate, but she is not an asset to my life. There, I said it too! |
What kind of dog is it? |
Why is everyone playing along as if this is a legit post? |
Because a lot of people are sorry they got a dog, but they are too responsible to do anything about it. Thus they are stuck with the dog for many many years. My friend is a perfect example. She bought her dog when she was doing IVF treatments and was told that she only had a 10 percent chance of getting pregnant. Fast forward six years: she hates her dog and has three kids. Even though she is a great dog owner, she is basically waiting for the dog to die. People get dogs for all the wrong reasons. And it's a HUGE commitment. |
Our dog is lots of work, and there are days when she doesn't get much attention from us, but consistently gets a good walk everyday. Not an easy feat when you have a 3yr. old. However, my son ADORES her! As much work it requires to take care of her, the pay off is well worth it. Maybe you could hire a dog walker - at least you wouldn't have to fit her walk into your schedule.
Our family cat just passed away last weekend and we are quite sad. In fact, I miss taking care of him. Pets are demanding! |
I'm also interested as to what kind of dog it is. We've been looking for a dog to adopt for a few months now. |
Op, kids come way before a dog. Get your priorities straight.
We just got a dog a year ago and we have two kids. I knew that if things didn't work out, then fido would have to go. Get rid of the dog. Maybe a single person with no kids would like it. |
Dont feel guilty. Find another home for your dog. You have enough going on now. |
Don't feel guilty. I really don't like my dog either. My kids, however, adore him. I actually put him in the kennel for the holiday. 5 days without the work. It was a nice break. We do this sometimes just to get some rest. |
