Pomona booster on here, again

He’s looking for good student culture and a happy environment over a massive academic crunch, since he’s had a lot of that in his magnet school

Where are you located?
Kid wants to stay near?

I can't take opinions other than mine so let me scream booster! They're asking for a good vibes college for biology and computer science. Pomona is a great fit for that type of student. Wanna suggest an alternative?

It’s great to be focused, but many students want to also have chill time and discover their environs for college. Access to a city or nearby geography really helps with that.

-1, there’s so much to do in Williamtown other than study! So many haters

Like what? A big reason to be in Williamstown is to stay focused on academics.

+1 so much to do in Williamstown? It’s basically one block. Gorgeous campus and hiking must be nice, but not much else to do.

Have you ever been to Williamstown? It makes Amherst and Hanover look like big cities.

Williams grad. I was never bored in Williamstown and this was 30 years ago when there were fewer restaurants on Spring Street.

I’d highly recommend Williams! Best biology and CS departments of any lac.

Harvey Mudd is a lottery even for highly qualified students. Great school, by all means apply, but have backups because it is a lottery.

St Olaf in Minnesota Would be another good option. Unheralded on DCUM, but has very strong math and CS -- along with good Bio and Chem.

St Andrews (Scotland) is a smaller uni in a small town. Would have very good grad school options - US or UK - coming from there. CS ranks 4th in the UK and their Bio, Chem, and Physics are all very solid.

This isn’t true.

Of course it isn't. Like most of the claims on this thread. DCUM is highly unreliable for this kind of info.
