Advice needed - non-coffee drinker

Having sugar, sweetener and half and half for guests is probably enough. If any of them are non dairy you could have a non dairy creamer. But don’t overthink it too much.
I’m a coffee drinker but drink it earlier in the morning. I might drink it again later but if you didn’t have the right kind of coffee I’d skip it and be ok.

A keurig is definitely the wrong kind of coffee.

The Starbucks box is perfect.

I'll add that Starbucks isn't the only option - Panera and Dunkin does this as well, so whichever is closest to you is fine.

+1 a box like this is absolutely fine and also you asked about instant. There are single serves of instant that get surprisingly good reviews! You could have a few of those (vanilla or DECAF- I'm a decaf drinker!) and they don't go bad so you can keep them in your cupboard for entertaining. You sound like a thoughtful hostess.

The Illy brand instant is really good, better than Starbucks drip. They come in single serves and you can keep them on hand forever. Order from Amazon. I take them on vacation when we travel.

This, and much better than borrowing a coffee maker.

One box of coffee is fine and any coffee will be greatly appreciated by the coffee drinkers. Ask the place you order from to give you a variety of sugars and stirrrers.

Agree with Starbucks coffee box.

Your guests will be SO happy if you provide a couple of different creamers. Starbucks will give you half-and-half, I think. I'd buy a carton of oat milk or soy milk, and one small Coffee-Mate, maybe vanilla.

Yes coffee drinkers always appreciate having coffee and the boxes are always a hit. Sounds great OP and this is very thoughtful.

But then we have a non-coffee-drinker making the coffee in a cheap coffee maker. That could turn out badly in a lot of ways. Let Starbucks do it.

You think Starbucks is not cheap coffee?

It's expensive bad coffee. But fine for OP's purpose, since the goal is to show effort.

Agree.

Signed, a coffee drinker

Perhaps a friend would loan you a brewer and filter? If you can pick them up in advance, that would be one less item to deal with right before your guests arrive - take-out coffee won't stay hot for too long, and coffee which isn't hot is not really drinkable. While purists prefer to grind their own whole beans just before brewing, you could simplify things by buying pre-ground coffee, you just need to scoop a tablespoon per cup into the filter, fill the water tank with the correct amount of coffee, and press the start button. Borrow a second filter in case people want more - you can quickly make a second pot, if need be.

Bottom line is, your coffee-drinking guests want the caffeine. It doesn't have to be just-brewed hot. I drink coffee, never have Starbucks if I can help it. But I'd be happier to find a Starbucks box at your house, rather than coffee you bought and brewed yourself if you have no experience with coffee. The french press idea, in particular, is ridiculous if you don't regularly use one.
