Not retired yet, but I'd love to be a water.aerobics instructor.

I don’t want to work for someone else when I retire, I want to explore my hobbies and see if I can make some money. Flipping thrift stores finds, refinishing furniture, independent travel agent, small engine repair, gardening. Things I already do for fun and if I can make a little cash all the better.

My government job is transferable as an independent contractor on the industry side so I know I can make serious money as a consultant working from wherever I land. But I’d rather focus on things that bring me joy.

The absolute best retirement jobs in the DMV region are IT jobs at

1. Navy Federal
2. IRS

About an hour's work a week.

I plan to step up the mystery shopping (not for the pay which is negligible but for fine dining/hotel/spa reimbursements). I’d love to find part time work for a hotel or airline company for travel discounts but guessing that’s hard to get.

Retiring CPA in industry. No, I don't do people's taxes but thinking of bookkeeping, or consulting work combined with becoming a personal trainer.

Tour Leader, ideally with one of the bigger worldwide tour companies but tour guide locally would work

None are people that need money but want to stay active and choose a part time retirement job related to their interests.

Hello. I am the OP. I have found myself craving the structure and social aspect and intellectual challenge of work.

I enjoy staying active as well and completely understand.

My job in The federal government was toxic in terms of the environment and the manager. Unhealthy for me.

😂. I am afraid I would not be able to control diabetes Type 2

I have thought of this one too. I believe it requires certification. At my gym, the pay is $30 an hour

that would be ok when the weather is decent, but I would hate that in the summer. I can handle the cold, but not the humidity here.

I would do house and pet sitting, but not the dog walking part in the summer.

Your job in retirement is to be retired. If you’re working, you’re not retired. You just switched jobs.
