When did your son/daughter go through puberty?

I assume she will start putting on some weight and grow taller in the next year or so. Right now she is only 70 pounds and 56" tall. FWIW we are Asian and I didn't get my period until 13 years old.

Mother of Asian daughter here and she got her period at 13 (whereas I got mine at 11 and looked like a grown adult at 12). She looked like a baby right up to 13 and continued to look fairly young after, compared to some of her peers. She's 18 now and 5'2" and 100lbs. I remember her weighing in the 70s for what seemed way too long, but in the end it was fine.

My eldest DD developed later between 7th and 8th grade but she was very underweight (65#) and got her period in 8th grade. She picked up weight and developed physically after that in 10-11th grades. My youngest is 70# in 4th grade and has breast buds but not much else. The doc said she will hit puberty in 5-6th grade.

^We are African-American FWIW since people are listing ethnicities.

As others have mentioned there is a wide range. I have a kid that just finished 5th grade and only about half of the girls look to have developed breast buds and shot up in height.

My DD just finished 6. I think she grew about 3-4 inches this year and has developed some hair / buds. No period yet (so she’s now older than when I got mine). She’s an athlete and a bit leaner than I was at her age, so I don’t know if that affects m the timing on her period at all.

Right around 10/10.5 but more subtle than what you describe with her friends. They still looked more like little girls than teens.

Mine kept pace and were always average with this and looked more developed by 6th grade but didn’t get their periods until 13.5 for one and almost 15 for the other
