Estate Planning ~ Ages and Stages

Anonymous
I got full control of a trust fund at 21 and I did pretty well with it. I was the trustee and beneficiary of my trust as that is how our family does things. However, were I to do the same for my kids in 2025 that would mean my 21yo would have 750,000 and that is just crazy to me. So, not happening.

I think giving them access to some funds at 21, 25, 35, and then the corpus and full trustee powers at 40 is good. They will know what is coming though so that will impact their decision making anyway. At least their brain will be fully developed and they will have some life experience.

Your kids are too young to know. I wouldn't trust our 23 year old with $10k, let alone the entire shebang (it would go to weed and gambling). Current 20 year old could handle anything, but our trust treats both equal, so we did ages and stages until 35
