How do YOU handle jet lag?

If we arrive somewhere early enough, we'll let the kids sleep for 2-3 hours then start the day at 10-11am and make sure to have a light day.

If we get there too late for morning sleep, we push through til 7-8pm.

My kids are 4 and 7 and have been on 5 and 8 international trips each and actually do really really well.

I'm considering dropping off our luggage and taking a bus tour, but I'm worried we might fall asleep, so a more active solution might be better. I'm curious what those of you with experience do. Do you stay active or is relaxing better? Should we just plan to walk around?

Just did this. Bus Tour in London worked great for us. Wouldn't have wanted to walk all day.

I don't do that well, but do find it easier on the vacation portion when we are going out and about and doing things during the day. Further, if I'm stuck in a one bedroom hotel and can't turn the light on to read or play with my phone during the night, I seem to fall back asleep.

When we come home I have a nightmare two weeks of waking up at 1am and probably don't help myself by grabbing my phone in the middle of the night.
