Should I report this car accident to insurance?

That is a good point. It it goes through insurance it will most likely show on carfax and will reduce the resale value of your car by a few hundred to a few thousand.

OP here. I thought of this, but I’m worried about damage to the sensors in the back. So far it seems fine, but I don’t fully trust that something won’t crop up later and by then it’ll be too late to go after the person that hit me.

They are at fault it will not raise your rates. I kept my safe driver discount even though my car was in the shop 2 weeks getting fixed.

Report it. Your insurance will not go up if you were rear-ended and the other insurance pays. DD was rear-ended under similar circumstances and we called our insurance, provided them with the other drivers info and let them handle it. There was no issue and no rate increase. We could have gone directly to the other drivers insurance company but i called ours to get advice and they handled it. You are absolutely entitled to have your car repaired and I would definitely want to if it was brand new.

My info is dated but I think repair appearing on Carfax is more repair center driven than insurance driven. We’ve had a couple repairs that didn’t make it to the Carfax. That’s why I always take Carfax report with a grain of salt.

Recently had a similar incident. They always say contact both police and your insurance if in an accident. Turns out neither is necessary if its a minor collision that is clearly one party's fault. You can fully go through their insurance if they accept responsibility.

You must not live in DC. I would have told the person not to worry and carry on.
You will get bigger pumps and scratches parallel parking.Looking back, I wish I had never fixed and of the scratches. Waste of my time and then money.

No. Just a simple "No" for something like you described.

Be more aware at lights also and give yourself some room to help prevent someone doing this again.

Report the accident to your insurance.

OP's rates will still increase.

I was hit and my car was totaled and I had medical bills. The other person’s insurance paid and my rates didn’t go up at all.

I don’t know what you should do, but I wouldn’t stress about your own insurance rates when making that decision.

Go to dealer. Ask for estimate to repair and check for other damage. Send to other driver and if they don’t pay, call their insurance.

Here is other side. My kid very lightly scratched a car no damage on my car. The guy then for some reason reports to my insurance even though I said get an estimate and I will pay. He jacked my rates. Odd part guy totaled car two weeks later so repair never done.

If you have it touched up have them check them. Btw sensors are more front bumper. Rear is more back up camera related

If someone rear ends me or otherwise damages my car I don’t want to deal with the individual, there is no upside to it. Unless the individual is Vito Spatafore

Anything that would crop up later sensor wise won’t be fixed now. They’re not going to replace any sensors, they’re just going to repair the paint, and if sensors fail after that you’ll still be on the hook for them.
