Salon sink hurts

This I hate it. Someone died from it once. It’s painful.

I try to scoot down so the lip of the sink is resting against my skull rather than my neck.

Yes! I’m always so uncomfortable. I’m taller and assume they’re not sized or adjusted for taller people. If I have to sit with toner or conditioner I always ask them to sit me up.

I get my hair cut every other month and the salon recently changed shampoo sinks. The new one are so uncomfortable that after a few minutes my neck begins to hurt after a few minutes. To make things worse my hairdresser is often running late and seems to have a deep conditioning applied to buy time, which leaves me sitting backwards even longer. Last time I just washed my hair myself and bailed on it entirely. Which is fine. But it seems like a design flaw- anyone else encounter this?

Do you mean you washed your hair in the salon sink by yourself? Explain!

OMG, you are literally the only person that thought that, LOL

+1. I dread getting my hair washed at the salon. I’m surprised more people don’t complain about it.
One time the stylist told me my neck must be weak and I should eat more calcium. Seriously.

I went to a fancy salon that had these very fancy sinks that were supposed to adjust to your neck. They were the absolute worst. If you leaned on them, they would “adjust” and your neck would end up hyper extended. The only way to deal with it was to engage your core and not rest any weight on it.
This falls under the “we can put a man on the moon but nobody gives a ah&t that women are injuring their necks to get a hair cut” category.
