Apples and oranges. I’d prefer Athens and a winning football team. |
Why? UGA is T20 public. The rankings within T20 are insignificant compared to thousands of colleges. |
Not the flagship of UC system |
I have family members at both UGA and UCLA. Both are great, but UGA seems smaller, more personal, more cohesive and less overwhelming. |
DC loved the UGA visit. They didn't like the UCLA one and we never got around to visiting Wisconsin for admitted days b/c they already made up their mind before Wisconsin released EA. |
lol quit being so insecure. |
Lol not insecure at all, just stating the facts. |
A lot are better. |
Same! Mine was strongly leaning Madison. |
Not really when UGA is in the T20 with Texas, Chapel Hill, Virginia, Michigan. That’s the company in the top 20. |
Squabbling over rankings is useless. UGA is one of the hottest colleges right now. Smart and popular, social kids have Athens high on their lists. If you know, you know. |
UGA has all kinds of kids- not just the ones who have “smart/popular/social” package. That’s the great thing about it- there’s a place for everyone and everyone can agree on the Bulldogs! |
Georgia and Florida are two schools that have become EXTREMELY difficult to get into from out of state. Its not quite where UNC and UVA are for out of staters ... but both those schools are approaching that tier. Yes, they are - and both have it all. Tremendous institutions. |
+100 |
I have two oos kids there and we are huge Daws now. As said, book hotel early. There are a lot of sketchy hotels in Athens. Stick to the Georgia Center, Hyatt Place orSpring Hill Suites til you get a feel for the area. Rent a car in Atlanta, and allow a lot of time both ways. It's very hard to find the rental car return at Atlanta airport - super confusing layout. Best place for gear is on campus at the bookstore by Tate. Walk down Milledge if you want to see the Greek houses. It's a great walk in any event. Lots of good restaurants for all budgets - read up before you come. Take in some time on one of the benches on North Campus near the chapel. It is very peaceful and beautiful. |
