I get it. It's a bit of a pain for my kids who are away for most of the summer.

But I support the concept overall. And the math and language assignments we get--which the school devises themselves--are useful.

It's the ELA assignments that I hate. They are from DCPS Central, so they are lame as usual. The book selection is TERRIBLE.

DCPS is obsessed with the idea that every book a child ever reads has the mai theme of overcoming discrimination of some sort. It's such an important topic, and it is so ruined by overkill. It's like kids have no other inner life and no other challenges to face.
