So if kids pass out of Algebra I, then they take Geometry in 9th. So then take Calculus in 12th. Calculus in 12th is really the standard track at most DMV schools. Is that the only advance math track at the school? |
You can test to place out of any math course you have a credit for. |
My son loved it, he met new friends, learned how to organize, manage his time, and using his assessment scores to create academic goals. |
Thanks for the feedback! My kid is shy, so I'm really hoping this will be a good chance to build some early friendships in addition to all the academic prep stuff. |
You can test out of Algebra 1 and Geometry. Even Algebra 2 but that's less common. |
OK but is there not multiple math tracks for the grade? For instance Geometry class or Algebra 2 class offered for incoming 9th graders? |
In my opinion, its most advantageous for kids like this. My quiet, shy DC attended two years ago and was absolutely terrified of not making friends. She was adopted by an outgoing/extraverted friend and others who are her core friend group today. They kept in touch over the remainder of summer and she waltzed into the school year with a ready made crew. |
Yes there are. My kid took geometry in 8th and will take the test next week and hopefully will test out so they can take Algebra 2 as a freshman. |
Yes, both are offered. If your kid tests out of Algebra 2 in BSI they can take AP Precalc as a freshman. |
