Nope - we were there all weekend for a tournament, and the bathroom area is under construction so it is just port a potties. I’d send your girls with a cooler with ice and soaked towels, and they can rotate through the over towels at every water break. It helped a lot this weekend. |
The ambient temperature on the turf fields will reach 150 - 160 degrees. This would not be allowed in college. The UMD Football players death resulted in multiple changes to NCAA practice protocols that have not made its way down to the high school level yet. It will likely take the death of a young player and the subsequent multimillion dollar lawsuit to change that. |
| It’s so hot out here. Please bring water or a tall glass of electrolytes. |
| Anyone care to report out? |
| Juniors Open going through same thing. Brutally hot. |
| UA150 and JO need to reconcile their differences and either change the conflicting dates or merge. Save your money on these! |
|
How did it go?
|
|
First time at UA150. Well run event and great swag. Talent level probably less than Juniors but that also makes it a great way to stand out amongst others.
They did a good job of managing the heat by having water breaks and cutting back on number of games. Nice to have a couple day break before Lax for Cure. |
Thanks for the context. |
My kids are way younger, but curious about this event. Is this something that is more self-driven and parents sign their own kids up? Or do their clubs recommend them to try out for this event? |
| My 2029 daughter attended. It was a good experience for her to do a combine for the first time and doing it in a heat advisory was tough! Only makes them tougher and ready for challenges! She was not upset that her team didn't make it to playoffs though; because we were both ready to go home. The Hero's, Coppermine, M&D girls definitely stood out compared to the rest. And the teams that had more of those girls did the best. |
This is more self-driven though clubs are sometimes contacted for input if there a lot of applicants from one team. |
If you play for a DC area club, it is self-driven. You will need video, and ideally a coaches recommendation, but definitely self driven. If you play for a Maryland, NJ, or LI club, they will nominate a group of their players to attend. |
