How will our free press survive?

Unfortunately the powers behind the curtain are manipulating us via the media and other means.

For example, popular culture is encouraging young Americans not to have children. In one generation they can get rid of Americans. Pay attention, people. It's manipulation, and it's working.

It's up to us to realize what's going on. I am concerned about the extreme fringes on the left and on the right. They're encouraging this. What is the ultimate goal?

People are concerned, very concerned. They can see what's going on.

This is why Trump won. God help us.

We need one legitimate leader, legitimate POTUS, to step up for either party. The Dems have the next opportunity to do this in 2028. We have had the worst leadership in American history since Obama left office. The pain and uncertainty we are feeling is a product of that lack of leadership.

It won’t survive. Nor, should it. It’s all independent journalism on social media now. Once it’s burned to the ground, it will swing back.

F WaPo and the NYT. Never thought I’d see the day I’d cancel both papers after decades.

I’m pp and another problem is when i go to local news I can’t read a single article for free. How are people supposed to get news? You can’t get a free article, so people go to free sources like Fox or MSNBC. How many subscriptions should I have?

They show the same car that ICE set on fire with flash bang grenade. Flash bang pyrotechnic mixture of metal oxidants and magnesium or aluminum sets things on fire.

Few and few people are getting their information from the heavily self censored corporate media.

This post is funny. Try getting your news from people actually on the ground there.

I have what about you? Still getting the direct feed from S. Miller and Fix.

It seems like we are heading toward the point where journalists use mainstream media solely to boost their profile before moving to Substack.

Oh shut up it's not both sides.

It’s not a matter of both sides here. Many liberals, whether moderate or not, genuinely wish for the Constitution and the United States to thrive as envisioned by our founders. On the other hand, Republicans seem to advocate for an authoritarian regime, compromising essential freedoms and embracing a mindset that stifles independent thought. Their inclination appears to lean towards a control reminiscent of leaders like Kim Jong Un.

The press is not on anyone's side except their own. And their side is to drum up as much drama, fire, explosions and divisiveness as possible, BECAUSE IT SELLS. War and hate sell way more than love and togetherness.

Or in the undying words of JK Rowling:

"The Prophet exists to sell itself, you silly girl."

First, what the heck, CNN? I get that the NYC videos were boring, but stop pimping that shirtless guy! I get it, anarchists get views, but you can't out compete nyp and fox on sensationalism.

Second, f-- that shirtless guy and all the violent and threatening protestors. I f--ng hate all the anarchists.

Agree. The criminal anarchists ruin any chance of productive peaceful protests. It just takes one store being looted to negate all the positive and newsworthy attention a protest could have garnered.

Lmao, no. Millions and millions were out peacefully protesting and everyone saw it.

I saw that too and then thousands of criminals ruined what otherwise could have been beautifully peaceful protests. Ignoring the truth makes you as stupid and careless as MAGAs.

We're talking about the No Kings Day Protests? And you're posting links covering the LA protests? Different events. On different days. Are you confused?

These people are willing to enslave themselves and live under autocratic rule because of some fictions about a laptop or because Biden is old, while their Russian owned dementia patient is tearing the country apart.

What a time to be alive.

I actually agree with ABC's decision in this case. We all want our mainstream media sources to present news in an objective whole truth manner. News reporters presenting their opinions turns mainstream objective news into Fox News or MSNBC. Half truth news based on political bias and opinion can be found on the cable news networks. If I'm tuning into ABC news, I'm assuming I'm getting straight-forward news which isn't a safe assumption if those presenting the news have exposed their political bias for the world to see.

While I may share an opinion with Moran, I realize he is best suited for a job at Fox News or MSNBC.

No that is not what people want. They got rid of their subscriptions to Washington Post when they refused to endorse Kamala Harris.

Apples and oranges. People want unbiased news, and they want the editorial page to present opinion pieces the readers find thought-provoking and that they agree with more often than not.

The problem with the WaPo is that the new newspaper owner forced a change of position on the long-standing editorial staff that the WaPo subscribers wanted to hear from.

Worse, the pivot was a manifestation of the tech bros kowtowing to Trump in favor of their own self-interest and against the good of the public.
They don't want unbiased news either.

ABC is free to offer objective news reporting free of subjective opinions. Why are you opposed to news agency being objective?

If you can't tell the difference between news and opinion, then you might be a Fox News viewer.
