I don’t think DMV went to National Harbor this year. MOCO3 did. Here’s the club list to double check: https://events2.sportwrench.com/events/e29c682f9/clubs-teams?modalTeam=open&divisionId=16772. They both competed in NEQs American division at the Gaylord in National Harbor. They didn’t play each other there, but MOCO3 did beat MEVC1. Overall results for the teams discussed above were: DMV: 1-7, 74th MEVC1: 3-5, 71st MOCO2: 5-3: 50th MOCO3: 5-3, 59th PVC1: 4-3, 53rd Let us know if I missed a tournament at National Harbor, checking tournament results in not a great skill for me. |
DMV lost all their games at National Harbor with one exception (another local team - Academy). Click on the team names here to see results: https://results.advancedeventsystems.com/event/PTAwMDAwMzcwNDE90/divisions/171959/standings |
You're right. I got my tournaments mixed up. DMV 14U beat Academy at NEQs at National Harbor in April. DMV 14U beat Moco3 at the ECC in Pittsburgh in May. Score was 25-22, 25-15. My point is just that other than the high flyers, many of these teams are comparable, and their performance depends on the day. Go with the club where you like the coaching and the practices are most convenient! |
I do not agree with your premise that the teams are comparable. This might be the case if the rank difference is in the order of a few hundred. Otherwise, the lower ranked team may win once in a while if the higher ranked team has a bad day, but they will not win consistently. I do not agree with the premise of going to the club where you like the coaching and the practices are most convenient. I would rather drive additional 10-15 minutes to where my current club practices rather than pay the astronomical DMV prices. With those prices, I don't even care how good the coaches are and where they practice. |
I’m not quite sure what you’re saying… just that DMV is definitely not worth the money, no matter their standing? What do people think of Academy, the Chevy Chase-based club that is mentioned above? |
If I had to choose between DMV and Academy, I would definitely choose Academy. Not much of a difference. I would need to be extremely desperate to go to DMV. If that would be my only option, my DD would not ply club for the season. |
Academy is a complete sh*tshow. There were a number of girls who left Academy for DMV this season and were so much happier. To each their own! |
Academy had 14 players on the 13s roster last year and that was definitely too much. I also thought that Academy was a complete sh*tshow, but - surprisingly - 7 players stayed with Academy, which is a pretty good retention. If by "a number of girls" (who moved at DMV) you mean 2, that's fine. Let their parents waste thousands of extra dollars if the girls are happier. On a different note, I start suspecting that I am dealing with a DMV representative who wants to make DMV look better than it actually is. Brush away the costs, come to us for location, location, location. Believe us, we have the best coaches, even though our teams cannot play. Can you explain the cost structure and why the club is so much more expensive than better clubs in the area? |
The 4th wave at the Nationals is over, so we can compare the 15s teams as well (with the players feeding in the 16s next year).
Here are the results for the teams from MD (surprisingly, all in the same division): MOCO1 (32), MEVC1 (61), PVC1 (88), RVA (90) Just as a reminder, the results for 14s (who will be feeding in the 15s next year): MOCO1 (32), then (in a different division) PVC1 (50), MEVC1 (83), MOCO2 (83) |
