Why do you think that every time someone speaks about not wanting homeless people here, they are MAGA. I guarantee we are the majority in DC and no, we are not MAGA. |
No one asked you. Move back to Ashburn where you belong, Susan.

Sure, you sound believable! -signed, no one |
House people at the stadium, and charge admission for gladiator fights. Win-win-win |
| People have been talking about a great park there for years. Features could include a giant carousel like the London Eye, a large lake for ducks and other waterfowl, serene rolling meadows like at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, a forested portion with walking paths, a tree lined pedestrian promenade with benches and towering elms, etc. |
Who has talked about that? You? Everyone else has been talking about a new stadium there for over a decade. |
| NO KINGS!! |
Helicopters would fly into anything like the London Eye. |
Only those with severe CTE would think that putting seven billion dollars worth of public resources into the hands of billionaires so that they can construct a stadium that may be used for a hundred hours a year if we’re lucky is a good idea. |
That's nice. I guess the entire DMV is brain damaged except for you because there's been talk of a replacement stadium since long before you moved here. It would help your argument if you didn't lie and exaggerate so blatantly or if your track record of ideas wasn't so bad. |
What lies / exaggerations do you perceive? And how do you have insight into the posters’ “track record of ideas” or know when they “moved here”? Do you know them personally? |
This is one reason why Hawaii has a large homeless population. Stateside cities have given one way tickets to homeless people promising them “paradise.” In the U.S., cities with high housing costs tend to have larger homeless populations (S.F., LA, DC, NYC, etc…). Traditionally, cities and states with lower housing costs have had smaller homeless populations. As the cost of housing increase in those locations, in the red state cities like Austin, Miami, Phoenix and Nashville, it is likely that the homeless populations will increase there too. We have an enormous affordable housing crisis that affects people from high to middle to low income. People with jobs are paying more than 30%-40% in rent or mortgages across the country. This is not a Democrat v Republican issue. Actually, progressive liberal city zoning made it worse in the 90s and early 00s. Locally, if you look at Montgomery County or Ward 3 DC, the zoning makes it almost impossible for low-middle income people to find affordable apartments or houses to rent. We need a “Levittown” for the 21st century but better that allows all people to have access to low interest mortgages and financing. I’m writing my council member saying that a new football stadium is ok to me so long as there are stipulations that more than 50% of the employees have to hired from within Wards 6,7,8, they need to be paid a livable wage, the ability to unionize and a certain percentage of revenue (15-20%) goes directly into an affordable housing fund. Or the city needs to be able to have a percentage of equity in ticket sales for 10 years to offset the initial investment from city coffers. I don’t want a Walmart scenario, where we give them a big tax abatement for 10 years and then they go back to MD at year 9. |

Only the poors would use a great park. The riches would not want to go that far east.
Actually I misunderstood the thread title. I thought you were talking about ⚓ |
Not to mention: THIS IS TRUMPS NAZI STADIUM |
No it isn't. Stop politicizing everything. |
