I have stayed here, it's across from a Hilton so safe.
I would stay again, it's fine. There is a good coffee shop on the first floor.

Sonesta by Rosslyn says $102 for this week. Holiday Inn by Virginia Square is $101. Econo Lodge by East Falls Church is $96.

I’ve stayed at the Econo Lodge. It’s definitely no frills but fine for the price range. It’s very close to the Metro.

You might be able to come close to $100 at the Cambria in Rockville Town Center. And its an easy walk to the Rockville Metro (red line). Safe and a nice area with a lot of food options within walking distance.
EVEN Hotel on Rockville Pike is another one and you can walk to the Twinbrook Metro from there.
There might be other places in Rockville/Gaithersburg that are lower priced that have a shuttle to Rockville or Shady Grove metro stations (but not walkable).

I use Hotel Tonight, Priceline, and Hot wire Apps to get the best last minute reals. The closer to her date she books, the better. Hotels don't want empty rooms.

Hostels are a good suggestion. Also check out Comfort Inns. There's one in Logan Circle that's below $150 many nights.

Eh, that used to be the case, but these sites aren't nearly as good as they used to be. It's cheaper for them to leave rooms empty than to staff enough people to turn over the rooms/etc. Still can find some deals, but it used to be a gold mine of deals.

Nah, the sticks are still low to mid 100's. Just stayed in one this weekend in Chambersburg, PA.
