An acquaintance coming into DC for a visit/tourism in early-mid July needs a very budget-centric but safe hotel in DC or environs close to the subway. They do not care about upscale amenities. They don’t mind being outside the city if the Metro ride is reasonable. Budget is about $100/night.
Anyone have a favorite place? All we/they are finding is places in the middle of nowhere and/or rough neighborhoods with no subway access. Thanks very much! |
Look along the Orange/Silver lines in VA. |
Agreed…Westin or other hotels in Tysons Corner? The hotels out by Dulles Airport? —May require a short Uber to the metro |
With this budget are they open to hostel-type places?
There is a Generator hostel in DuPont area - I don’t have personal experience with it in DC (so check reviews on TripAdvisor, etc) https://staygenerator.com/hostels/washington-dc |
Oh my. Not at that price. Not even Ffx co has prices that cheap. |
Courtyard silver spring (both north and the other one) - usually $115; Sheraton pentagon city is circa $125. Both fine to metro to and from though wouldn’t wander. Courtyard Alexandria Pentagon South is less than $100. These aren’t great locations but are safe enough and not disgusting. |
Courtyard Dulles is cheap. Maybe $115 |
By the time you add Metro fares (let alone time) better off in hostel. There is one near Chinatown Duo Housing. Also Motto isn't much over $100. Both are very walkable. |
Hyatt Place in Arlington - Courthouse |
Westin is not going to be $100! Try the econo lodge in Arlington but walkable to the east falls church metro station. Week of the 14th is just under 100 a night before taxes. |
That’s not a realistic budget anymore. |
$167 |
American Inn Bethesda great location 135 |
Not $100, but you can usually get a room for less than 150 on a weekend, Since they hike the prices up for business travelers during the week.) I know “supply- demand”) - signed, I live in Vienna and my extended family stays at the Westin in Tysons when they visit, and the Friday - Sunday price is considered cheap for that level of hotel |
OP here. Thanks to all for the helpful and informative suggestions. |
