It's not any worse. |
omg imagine the tragedy if you can't predict someone's genitals when hearing theirs name. |
Fallon Carrington you whippersnappers |
Devon is a place name and fine. Don’t spell it some weird way! |
PP. It's not a tragedy, you just have to watch people (like teachers and job interviewers) make dumb mistakes and awkwardly get out of it. Like having a difficult to pronounce name. I don't recommend that either...for the same reason. It's just easier to avoid. As we are discussing, Devon, Devin, and Devyn have different degrees of gender marking. When someone tries to make their kids' names match...there's some underlying principle there. The human mind wants to understand it. People aren't sets of objects. There's no reason their names have to match other than conveying stylish intentionality and whatever other reason the namer had. The principle here hasn't been shared other than sounds similar and ends in "n". It's not about genitals as much as people getting your name right, being able to guess who you are in a crowd, etc. It's just easier. I have two colleagues with European names that start with the same syllable and both are pronounced differently from the likely guess pronunciation. The funny thing is that people are always mixing up these two names in front of the people themselves. Because they share the first three letters. At that point, I'd start going by my initials just to avoid going through the cringe of listening to people mangle my name. |
I don’t like it. Sorry, OP. |
For the love of god people need to stop using "y" in place of "I" and thinking "oh that makes it a girls name!" |
This is a girls name right? All the Devons I know are female |
hate it it reminds me of a fool on teen mom. |
Devon reminds me of my hillbilly cousin in WV … the way it’s pronounced in WV has ruined the name for me |
8 like Evan better. |
You are an extremely odd person |
Fallon and Griffin suck and so does Devon. Pick a better name! |
I think Devon is nice. It definitely "goes with" Fallon and Griffin.
I think Devon = girl and Devin = boy. |
All the Devons I know are girls. |
