I use milk but I don’t drink milk. I’ve never been into drinking milk. |
My doctor said my eating isn’t normal because I should only need about 500 calories extra. |
Do you have a history of dieting or eating disorders? It seems like you are fixated on that number. |
No. No eating disorders or dieting. I definitely want to follow my doctor’s advice, but I also want to honor my body and my hunger. I do trust her and some research shows that 500 calories is what’s needed. I know eating too during pregnancy isn’t healthy and I worry eating too much over the recommended intake may be unhealthy. |
If your thyroid and glucose are okay, you are very likely okay.
This stage is so temporary — it feels big but it is a blip — and I really think you are better off trusting your body and not worrying too much. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to give birth, heal from it, and feed a human. Your body is doing so so much right now. |
A lot of people overeat and it’s obviously not due to feeling full all the time. Over half of our population are obese. If you’re so concerned stop eating more than 500 extra calories. This is a weird post. |
With both my kids I was hungry all the time. And dropped weight like crazy while maintaining my supply. Between walking/nursing/holding and carrying, the hunger was real. |
Calories have very, very little to do with feelings of hunger. |
That's good that you don't have that history. It sounds like you don't have any symptoms other than being hungry and others have confirmed that's totally normal. And you're eating healthy foods. So I would not really worry about that number. You said you ate 2800 calories on the day you tracked. This CDC website calls that normal. https://www.cdc.gov/breastfeeding-special-cir...s/maternal-diet.html Here's another link https://share.upmc.com/2023/05/calories-while-breastfeeding/ If you're not gaining weight than you aren't eating too many calories. |
Unless something is wrong, which is why it’s good your doctor is doing bloodwork to rule those things (thyroid, diabetes, maybe others) out. |
Your "hunger" is not really hunger, it's mental. Learn to control it. Easier said than done. ![]() Also, eating often promotes more insulin so you get sugar crashes which makes you crave more carbs. Deadly cycle. Eat more fats and meats and less carbs to help control cravings. |
Her hunger is real hunger. Eating like op does with protein + fat blunts the insulin spike from the carbs. You sound very uneducated and down right unintelligent. |
You are thirsty and just lost buckets of iron and magnesium and other nutrients from your system. Take iron and magnesium and drink lots and lots of water. When you eat, eat nutrient dense foods first and then if you crave junk, have that. But first, nuts, meat, and fresh vegetables. |
She is breastfeeding you moron. |
PP again. It's weird that no one talks about the effects of losing all the blood and whatnot from giving birth as if a massive hemorrhage is just nothing to a woman's body. They should routinely give women an influsion of vitamins after birth. |
